To get a better feel of our organization, this is what our fraternity achieved in the Fall 2011 semester.

Professional Activities

Delta Sigma Pi is first and foremost, a professional business organization. As a professional business organization, we develop our members through resume critiques, mock interviews, and etiquette dinners. We also have an advisory panel of older brothers who give advice on how to approach and speak with recruiters. We bring in recruiters from national companies and founders of local entrepreneurial companies to come speak to us at our weekly meetings throughout the semester. The night before Career Showcase, we invite select companies to our own mixer event so we get one-on-one time with the recruiters without the chaos of career showcase. The network you create in Delta Sigma Pi will help you start and grow your career long after you graduate from the University of Florida.

Isaiah Baez, VP Professional Activities of Fall 2011

Professional Trips

The Beta Eta Chapter of Delta Sigma Pi will be traveling to the Chicago metropolitan area for the Fall 2011 pro-trip. The pro-trip committee is working diligently to create an experience for the brotherhood that will allow each of the brothers to grow professionally. We will be visiting esteem companies and learning about their organization, corporate culture, and internship opportunities. Chicago is a beautiful city and the brotherhood will have the opportunity to visit all of its tourist attractions including Cloud Gate and Magnificent Mile. The goal of this trip is to provide the brotherhood an opportunity to visit a new city and create memories with their brothers that will be ever lasting.

Yasamin Sabeti, VP Pro-Trip of Fall 2011

Finance

My responsibility as Vice President of Finance for Delta Sigma Pi is to ensure that the fraternity’s semester budget is allocated in a way that accurately reflects the brothers’ aggregate views. In addition to analyzing results from a survey that was sent out to seek the chapter’s opinions on the finances, I have had the pleasure of communicating with an extremely competent executive board in order to ensure that the organization’s activities are funded in a rational manner. Other responsibilities that this position includes are collecting chapter dues, which total $180 a semester, issuing reimbursements to brothers who temporarily spend money out of their own pockets on behalf of the fraternity, and managing brothers’ personal accounts. This position has been a great leadership experience, and I have definitely grown professionally as I have developed my time management and budget analysis abilities.

Michael Stephens, VP of Finance of Fall 2011

Social Activities

For the 2011 school year, the Beta Eta chapter of Delta Sigma Pi is reaching for the highest level of recognition within the International organization – the Chapter of Excellence level. Beta Eta will be working to create and execute award-winning professional and community service activities, organize faculty appreciation and campus wide events, alumni dinners and tailgates, and more.

Michelle Curran, VP of Chapter Operations of Fall 2011
